Czech 17, often sold under the name Berry Blue, is one of the earliest and most widely grown honeyberry varieties. This vigorous and hardy plant produces elongated deep blue berries with a tangy-sweet flavor often compared to a blend of blueberry, raspberry, and black currant. Because it ripens very early in the season, it is often one of the first fresh fruits harvested in the garden.

Czech 17 plants are known for their adaptability and reliable production. The berries are excellent for fresh eating when fully ripe and are also commonly used in jams, syrups, baking, smoothies, and freezing. Its early bloom time and strong productivity make it a valuable variety in mixed honeyberry plantings.

🌸 Pollination

Like all honeyberries, Czech 17 requires cross-pollination with another compatible honeyberry variety for best fruit production.

Czech 17 belongs to a group of earlier-blooming honeyberry varieties and is most reliably pollinated by other varieties with similar bloom timing.
