Our Story Begins Here

Fignite Your Passion began long before our nursery ever existed.

I grew up in Orem, Utah, about 30 minutes from where we live now. My father grew up on a dairy farm, and although he chose a career as a school teacher, he carried his love of farming with him. Our backyard was filled with a large garden, fruit trees, and fruiting shrubs that made up most of our yard — and I loved every bit of it. That early exposure planted a lifelong appreciation for growing food and working with plants.

As life took me into military service, growing fruit wasn’t always possible. Moving from assignment to assignment meant putting down roots was temporary at best. During my final duty station, I made a decision — I would begin collecting plants that I could eventually take with me when I retired. What started as a small collection quickly grew into something much larger.

During that time, I became friends with the team at Restoring Eden, where I worked for five years while completing my Army service. That experience deepened my knowledge and allowed me to build an incredibly diverse collection of fruiting plants. By the time we moved back to Utah, I had filled a 24-foot moving truck with nothing but plants — Many of which were planted at our current home.

That collection became the foundation for what is now Fignite Your Passion.

What began as a personal collection has grown into a small family-run nursery focused on helping others experience the same joy that comes from growing fruiting plants — watching them grow, learning their needs, and eventually harvesting something meaningful from your own yard.

We focus on varieties that are well suited for mountain and colder climates, and many of the plants we offer are ones we grow ourselves. This allows us to share real-world experience and practical guidance with our customers.

We believe successful gardening starts with choosing plants that are well matched to their environment. Our focus is on hardy, productive varieties with proven performance, strong pollination compatibility, and long-term reliability.

Rather than chasing trends, we prioritize plants that bring lasting value and enjoyment to gardeners.

The Story Behind Our Name

The name Fignite Your Passion has a special meaning rooted in our family. While living in Washington, I discovered figs — a fruit I had never experienced growing up — and quickly fell in love with growing them. What began as curiosity turned into a collection of dozens of fig varieties and a deeper passion for growing unique fruiting plants.

One Christmas, my wife and daughter surprised me with the idea of creating a website to share that passion with others. They chose the name Fignite Your Passion as a play on “ignite your passion,” inspired by my love of figs and the excitement of discovering new plants. The name stuck, and it continues to represent our goal of helping others discover the joy of growing fruit.
