Schuyler is an early-season blue table grape developed at Cornell University, known for its excellent flavor, reliable production, and ability to perform well in cooler climates. It is a cross between Ontario and Fredonia and is widely grown for its quality fruit and adaptability.

The grapes grow in medium to large clusters and ripen to a deep blue color. The berries are medium-sized with a tender skin and juicy texture. Schuyler is a seeded variety, typically containing a few seeds per berry, and is often appreciated for its more traditional grape character and well-balanced flavor.

This variety is especially valued for its sweet, mild taste that is less “foxy” than traditional Concord-type grapes. It ripens early in the season, often ahead of Concord, making it a great choice for gardeners looking to start their grape harvest sooner. The vines are vigorous, productive, and well-suited for home gardens.
