Roger's red grape is a robust hybrid that results from crossing the native vitis californica with the European vitis vinifera. Its vibrant red foliage in the fall makes it a highly sought-after, deciduous vine.
This vine must either climb or it will grow as a mounding, spreading groundcover. It is excellent for covering arbors or fences, and it can provide ample shade during the summer. It is recommended to prune and shape it in the winter months before spring leaves begin to emerge. It is known to have above-average resistance to Pierce's Disease.
Roger’s red is also a fantastic choice for attracting wildlife. It draws in pollinators during its spring flowering, as well as birds and other creatures that enjoy the plentiful small red grapes that ripen in late summer.

Appearance: It is a vigorous, deciduous vine (meaning it loses its leaves in the fall) prized for its spectacular orange and red fall color.
Fruit: The vine produces clusters of small, seedy, purple-red grapes that ripen in late summer. While edible for humans and often used for jam or juice, the fruit is a primary food source for birds and wildlife. Product Information
