St. Rita is an Italian heirloom fig prized for its exceptionally early ripening, outstanding productivity, and rich berry flavor. Often considered one of the earliest main-crop figs available, St. Rita has become a favorite among collectors and home gardeners, particularly in regions with shorter growing seasons.

The small to medium-sized figs develop dark purple to nearly black skin surrounding a vibrant strawberry-red interior. The flesh is dense, juicy, and exceptionally sweet with complex berry notes often described as reminiscent of strawberry jam, blackberry, and mulberry. Its outstanding flavor and dependable production make it an excellent choice for fresh eating, preserves, drying, and desserts.

St. Rita is remarkably productive, often producing heavy crops from a young age. Its early ripening habit allows gardeners in cooler climates to enjoy a reliable harvest before many other fig varieties begin to mature.
