Johns is a named cultivar recognized for its larger fruits that grow in clusters, reaching at least five inches in diameter. The plants are robust, growing up to ten feet in height. They produce stunning white flowers that bloom in spring, which eventually turn into soft, nearly black berries by late summer. Both the flowers and berries are edible. The fruits ripen in mid-August and can be pollinated by any other elderberry variety. These plants are vigorous as they grow to 10 ft tall.
