The Elderberry of Adam is a striking and robust native American shrub that flowers and bears edible fruit, thriving in nearly any location across the United States. Its leaves, which evoke a tropical appearance, are pinnately compound and can reach lengths of up to 12 inches, adorning gracefully arching branches that showcase plentiful, flat-topped clusters of lovely white blooms throughout the summer. The beauty of these flowers persists as they evolve into a golden brown, eventually giving way to abundant clusters of sweet, dark purple-black berries, renowned for their high nutrient and antioxidant content. While these berries are not suited for fresh consumption, they are superb for creating juice, jams and jellies, as well as Elderberry wine. Although it grows vigorously, Adams Elderberry thrives with pruning for size and shape management. It is easy to care for and problem-free, making it a remarkable, beneficial, and attractive addition to any garden! Despite being partially self-fertile, Adam's Elderberry will yield a greater berry harvest when pollinated by any other Elderberry variety.
