One of the most sought-after commercial types in Scotland, it is known for being a prolific producer of large berries that possess a traditional strong, pungent taste, and is also resistant to white pine blister rust. The Ben series, named after Scotland's mountains, ranks among the easiest to cultivate and offers some of the finest-quality black currants globally.

This bush is compact, growing upright to a height of 5 feet, making it easy to cultivate and trim. It is reliably self-fruitful, but for optimal yield, it is recommended to plant it alongside another variety of black currant for effective cross-pollination. The berries ripen in mid-July and are better suited for regions without high summer heat and humidity.
