Aurora is widely regarded as one of the finest honeyberry varieties for fresh eating, producing large, firm berries with exceptional sweetness and balanced flavor. Developed through the University of Saskatchewan breeding program, Aurora was selected for improved fruit size, flavor, and productivity compared to earlier honeyberry varieties.

The berries are large and elongated with a deep blue color and smooth texture. The flavor is often described as a blend of blueberry and raspberry, with lower acidity than many earlier honeyberry varieties, resulting in a smooth, rich taste that makes Aurora especially desirable for fresh eating.

Aurora plants are vigorous, cold hardy, and highly productive once established. Its upright growth habit makes harvesting easy, and the berries are highly visible on the bush. Aurora is well suited for home gardens and small orchards in colder climates.

🌸 Pollination

Like all honeyberries, Aurora requires a different compatible variety nearby for best fruit set, as cross-pollination improves yield and berry size.

Aurora belongs to a group of earlier-blooming honeyberry varieties and is most reliably pollinated by other varieties with similar bloom timing.
